Technology

What not-to-do

DO NOT WATCH STREAMING VIDEO.

This uses a lot of bandwidth and slows down everyone on the Internet.  This includes television, movie, or news broadcasts.  If you need to do this as instruction in a classroom, please see Mr. Sanders.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INSTALL ANY PROGRAMS.

All programs installed must be purchased by the school and free programs need to be approved by Technology to make sure they do not contain a virus.  Please see Mr. Sanders if you have something that needs to be installed.

DO NOT CHECK ANY NON-TSB EMAIL.

Your TSB email account or GaggleTN account are the only email programs that you should be using on campus.  This means NO Hotmail, AOL, Comcast, Bellsouth, Juno, Google, Yahoo or any other program.  Virus can be transmitted through all of these and the only way we know that were safe is to use programs that we can secure ourselves.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD ANY DESKTOP OR WEATHER SOFTWARE.

Active desktop programs and programs such as WeatherBug or active radar plugins constantly use bandwidth and they slow down everyone on campus.  They should never be used.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD ANY MUSIC OR VIDEO OR PICTURES OVER THE INTERNET.

You should not download any music or videos to the computers.  This uses bandwidth, storage space and often violates copyright laws.

DO NOT BRING YOUR OWN COMPUTER ON CAMPUS AND ATTEMPT TO COTTECT TO TSB NETWORK OR INTERNET.

It's against TN State law to connect to our LAN or Internet with a non-state computer.  It could spread viruses or lead to information theft.

ALL OF THESE ARE COVERED UNDER THE ACCEPTABLE USER POLICY GUIDELINES.  CONTACT STEVEN SANDERS FOR QUESTIONS
